The more shoes the better, right? It is no secret that shoes can make or break an outfit, but shoes can also make or break your closet. How many times have you not been able to find the left shoe to your favorite black peep-toe pump? Do your shoes somehow end up sprawled out over the bottom of your closet, while some are under your bed, and somehow there are a couple pairs in the trunk of your car? This has to stop! Getting ready in the morning should not include a search and rescue mission for your shoes. Follow a few of these 4 simple steps and your morning routine will be much easier and your outfit will be looking fabulous!
1) Keep the boxes. They come in a box for a reason. Not only do the shoes already fit in there, but they are protected in there. Keep the labels facing outward so you know which shoe is in which box. Stack them neatly in your closet for easy grab-and-go pick!
2) Snap a Picture. Plastic bins are a great way to store shoes. They keep the look of the closet in unison, protect the shoe, and make stacking/storing easy. Take a picture of the shoe and tape it to the outside of the box that way you can see what is in the inside. You can find plastic bins from Target, Wal-Mart, and online at www.uline.com, and www.containerstore.com.
3) Over-the-Door Shoe Organizers. Shoe organizers are a great way to get your shoes off the ground. They keep everything visible and in a place. There are many options for a over-the-door shoe organizers. A white mesh one is perfect because you can see the shoe without having to take it out of it’s little cubby. My favorite one comes from The Container Store. It holds 50 pairs! It’s the Chrome 10-Tier Rolling Shoe Rack.
4) Shoe Rack. Simple yes, but often forgotten. The best way to place your shoes in a shoe rack is with one facing you, and the other one with it’s back towards you. This way you can see the entire shoe.
Shoes are great pieces to any wardrobe, so please take care of them! It is easy to come home and kick your shoes off of your tired feet, but by putting them back in their home at night will help keep your closet organized and your life organized too!
Chime in…we’d love to hear from you! How many pairs of shoes do you have? How are they organized?
