Technology is an ever growing thing that the average person cannot keep up with.  As soon as the newest gadget comes out there is already the next best thing in the works, and in a short amount of time your fairly new gadget will be considered “old school.”  It is interested to look at some of the most important technological advances and inventions that have happened in the past 30 years that we take for granted now.

1)      Internet and home computers.  Do you remember when there weren’t any computers in your home?  It wasn’t that long ago that computers were not part of your home life, but now-a-days you couldn’t imagine not going on the computer every day.  Mostly because of the internet.  The internet revolutionized how we get information on a daily basis.  Something that would take hours of research in the library now takes only a few minutes searching on the internet.

2)      Portable devices.  Chances are your cellular phone is connected to your hip.  You feel naked if you walk out of the house with it. Portable devices such as phones, computers, mp3 players, and tablets have changed not only how we stay connecting but how we interact.  Things like texting, and chatting keeps us very connected to friends and family but it also removes us from being in the present situation at times.

3)      Alternative fuels.  Rising demand with a shrinking supply has forced scientists and engineers to come up with alternative fuels.  This has flipped the automobile industry on its head over the past few years.  Now consumers have the choice of gasoline, hybrid, and electric.

4)      Medicine.  Everyday medicine is advancing with the help of technology.  Something as small as a vaccine for the Chicken Pox to the artificial liver invented by Dr. Kenneth Matsumura and Alin Foundation, and huge developments in cancer treatments.  Everyday steps towards cures and better treatments are being developed.

That is not even breaking the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what has taken place recently.  It is insane to think how much has been developed in the past few years but maybe what is even more insane is the thought of what is coming out way in the next few years.  Technology is something that will never stop advancing.  We are the lucky ones who get to
